Draft for review. Publication does not approve these proposed terms or enable optional location-history features.
Choose separately how Chute may use your precise location. Creating an account, signing in with Google or Apple, accepting general terms, and granting a phone permission do not by themselves grant these location consents.
Before choosing at sign-up, review the location purpose for your rider or driver role. Allowing location is a separate choice from creating an account. Declining does not grant location access; features that need pickup, destination or online-driver location may remain unavailable. SOS live-location sharing requires its own later choice.
Driver Location While Online
Use precise GPS, heading and receipt time while you are online or on a trip, including in the background, for automatic matching, rider tracking and monitoring by authorized operations staff. Stop location collection when offline. When enabled, stored samples support driver trails, trip replay and safety reviews. A heartbeat may report app presence without a new GPS fix.
Rider Location for Service
Use your precise pickup and destination information to check service availability, estimate fares, arrange your ride and support authorized operations staff. Pickup information may also contribute to coarse demand heatmaps when enabled. This does not authorize continuous background tracking of the rider.
Rider Live Location During SOS
When the SOS live-location feature is available and you activate it, share your live location during that incident with authorized operations staff and your designated emergency contact through a limited live-location link. Stop capture and expire the link when the incident resolves or the trip ends. SOS location is a separate choice from ordinary ride location.
Depending on the feature, location is available to your matched ride participant, authorized Admins and Dispatchers, and service providers that operate mapping and realtime delivery. During SOS, the designated emergency contact may receive an expiring location link. Precise location is not used for advertising.
When enabled, operations may keep coarse hourly supply and demand summaries to compare seasonal activity. These summaries do not include names or account identifiers and are separate from detailed GPS trails. Coarsening does not by itself guarantee that data is anonymous.
Operations Location Retention
For driver trails, trip summaries, seasonal aggregates and access audits, the retention schedule is:
| Record or rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Idle driver trails (days) | 7 |
| Detailed trip trails (days) | 90 |
| Simplified routes (years) | 2 |
| Round pickup and drop-off after (days) | 90 |
| Approximate endpoint rounding distance (meters) | 100 |
| SOS, flagged or disputed trips: hold until resolved, then (years) | 2 |
| Personal data, transcript access and resolution audit records (years) | 2 |
| Coarse hourly supply and demand heatmap aggregates (years) | 2 |
Your Location Choices
You may withdraw each consent through the app location privacy controls when available, or contact support@chutebyatoz.com. Withdrawal stops new collection for that purpose; it does not erase existing records automatically or remove a safety or dispute hold. You may still use features that do not require that location information. Contact support@chutebyatoz.com for access or deletion requests.
